I sat on Shadow Beach and waited. It was dangerous business, waiting here on Shadow Beach and watching for something to happen. When you waited, bad things happened, especially towards the end of the day. I used to think it was the people here that caused the bad things to happen, but not so. It was something else, I had heard of freak waves, shark attacks and incidents caused by strong wind all happening too. The locals claimed you could not come here and just be idle, not without some deep contemplation to accompany it, not on this beach. They explained it, “Don’t go to Shadow Beach without a pure mind or the shadows will teach you a lesson.”
