The rainbow saved me. We were in the moment right before words and actions beyond repair were about to unfold. Then, in the quiet of the backswing, someone cried out softly, “There’s a rainbow!” None of us had ever seen a rainbow and we all ran out to the porch and yard to take a better look. There it was, like a miracle across the sky, diffusing the thickness of the angry air we had created.
