She watched the white house with the red roof from across the field. She never went any closer. I would see her on my walks and if I did I’d gather some camouflage and I’d watch her watch the house. I never went any closer. Had I met her before, long ago? But I’m sure I would remember a creature so beautiful. There was no way to know so I just watched her and she just watched the house, my house. Then she would prance away – the last silver deer on earth.
